Our
Treatment Model
A holistic, trauma-informed approach guided by the evidence-based Together Facing the Challenge® (TFTC) treatment model, supporting the physical, emotional, social, and developmental needs of every child in our care.
OUR PRIMARY TREATMENT MODEL
Together Facing the Challenge® (TFTC)
An evidence-based model developed at Duke University, recognized by the California Evidence-Based Clearinghouse for Child Welfare with a Level 2 rating, and certified by the Omni Family Institute.
TFTC is used across all Families Especial placements — providing the foundation for trauma-informed care, caregiver coaching, and skill-building. Our three core pillars:
Relationship Building
Strong relationships between youth, caregivers, and case managers form the foundation of all care.
Trauma-Informed Care
Staff and caregivers understand how trauma impacts a child's brain, body, biology, behavior, and beliefs.
Skill Building
Adults and children are coached to build practical skills that improve relationships and long-term outcomes.
