Helping Extended Biological Family Members to Become Verified
FE works with extended biological family members who desire to become caregivers for children and youth placed in the conservatorship of DFPS – Children’s Protective Services.
In order to become verified as a kinship foster home, kinship caregivers or prospective kinship caregivers must meet all verification requirements that a traditional foster parent/home would be expected to meet.
FE will guide prospective kinship foster parents through the verification process, complete the required home screening, and provide support services following placement until permanency is achieved.
Minimum Requirements:
- Be 21 years of age
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident
- HS Diploma or GED
- Cleared Background Checks
- Be financially self-sustaining
- Reliable transportation
- Positive Home Screening (Completed by FE)
